Bad Penny Blues
We're back on the beautiful John Sebastian Lightship in the harbourside for our popular blues dance tomorrow night. Usual format, general level class at 8.30pm, dancing from 9.30pm, all details here:

Beginners courses
Our course in Bristol this weekend is full and the next one isn't until March. But we do have spaces on our weekend intensive course in Cardiff on 4-5th February if you don't want to wait. It's 12-5pm on Sat, and 12-3 on Sun. 

Bristol Swing Festival 6-9th April This is Bristol's biggest swing dance event of the year - an international level Lindy Hop camp with top instructors, plus taster classes in circus skills. We've sold over 2/3rds of the spaces already and you've less than a week left to get a place at the early bird price (until 31st Jan). All the details are here:

Bristol University Dance Show - Fire on the Dancefloor

The Bristol University Dance Society are putting on their annual dance show 'FIRE ON THE DANCEFLOOR', this year it is going to be bigger and better than ever!!!

It includes many dance styles which I'm  sure will interested everyone, not only will you get to see performances in your favourite styles but you can experience all that dance has to offer.

We, as UBU dance society, will be putting on performances in ballet, street, hiphop, belly, cuban,  zumba, tap, jazz and contemporary. We will also have guest performances from Le roc soc, UBU ballroom and latin society and breakdance society.

The show includes over 100 dancers, so as you can see there really is something for everyone!

The show is on:
Thursday 16th February, 7.30pm (Doors at 7pm)
Friday 17th February, 7.30pm (Doors at 7pm)
Saturday 18th February, 2.30pm (Doors at 2pm)
Venue: Anson Rooms, University Of Bristol Students' Union

Prices: £5 DANCESOC / £6 STUDENTS / £8 OTHER

This is very definitely Not a beginners session. As a guide you should be comfortable free dancing Lindy Hop or should have been a regular at our intermediate classes for 6 months plus.

We are running one-off afternoon sessions with a limited number of dancers to offer what will be basically a small group private lesson. The main aim of the sessions is to improve your dancing through style - lead & follow - concept - improvisation etc and generally to improve your understanding of the dance:  It is not necessarily about new moves, though you may well pickup a few new things along the way.

You will book in with a partner - one leader + one follower and there is the option to stick with your partner all afternoon if you wish. We will be happy to dance with anyone during the afternoon if you feel that you would benefit from it - again this is not imperative.

A chance to be filmed
Not imperative by any means, but for those interested there will be the chance to be filmed and to watch and discuss the videos as one of the best possible learning aids

The booking is for the whole afternoon which will be split into approximately 4 sessions with tea/ refreshment breaks
